Jennifer Wilson

Jennifer has been connected to the Angelica Village community since its beginning in 2015 and joined the board in 2021. As a trained researcher, she is often engaged in conversations about gathering community input and evaluating programs. Jennifer began her career as a social worker in direct practice and program management in shelter, school, and other service settings. Seeing the many limitations and harmful realities of these systems, she is deeply encouraged by Angelica Village’s model of walking alongside people through trauma, healing, and life’s many ups and downs. Jennifer Wilson is currently the Director of Research and Impact at Shopworks Architecture, a Denver-based architecture firm specializing in supportive and affordable housing and shelters, where she studies the concept of trauma-informed housing and design. She holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Madison as well as an MBA and PhD in Social Work from the University of Denver. She and her little family love hiking, traveling, swimming, baking, curling up with good books, and playing games.

Annie Zean Dunbar

Annie Zean Dunbar (she/her) has had the distinct pleasure of being on the Angelica Village Board since the Winter of 2019. She is a general board member and is grateful to support the work of Angelica Village. Zean is a doctoral candidate and adjunct instructor at the University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work. Zean is a researcher and artist whose practice centers Black feminist theory traditions to examine interstitial experiences of displaced peoples. She is inspired by the values which underline the work of the Village and is interested in exploring how mutual aid and other community care practices inform the relationships and community. She is currently conducting her dissertation project, which aims to elucidate particular practices, values, benefits, and actions practiced within Black newcomer communities. Zean wants to work towards a more progressive and just world, and aims to do so by training, teaching, and learning with people interested in making social change.

LEIGH ANN HILL

Leigh Ann Hill is a Colorado native with a love of nature, beauty, social justice, Restorative Practices, Waldorf education, skin care, plant medicine and trauma informed care. She is a licensed esthetician, having graduated from the School of Botanical and Medical Aesthetics  where she thrived in learning about the anatomy and physiology of the skin, skin care ingredients, skin treatment modalities, nutrition, and holistic approaches to skin care and overall health.  Leigh Ann is also a certified herbalist, graduating from the Herbalism Roots program through Denver Integrative Massage School, and is pursuing her passion for plant based medicine, essential oils and aromatherapy.

Leigh Ann is deeply committed to learning about what it means to be a white woman living in and benefitting from racist institutions and a culture of white supremacy. She is actively working through her unconscious bias, understanding her privilege, and taking responsibility to support other white folks as they work towards becoming anti-racist leaders in their communities.

Leigh Ann is a founding member of the Board of Trustees for Angelica Village.  She first learned about Angelica Village through her friendship with Renata Heberton and was deeply inspired by the vision for this community and the possibilities that it holds for impacting the lives of each individual who is called to join this important work. She offers her services to the community as a trained Restorative Practices facilitator, helping the community foster healthy communication skills and work through conflict in a generative and healing way.

She loves cooking, gardening, hiking, glamping, singing, and going to concerts with her wife, Barbara.  Her two sons are growing into fine young men, striving to find their way in the world that is filled with challenges and delights.
